Designing Master Yi for Path of Champions: Deciding On The Pillars
Before creating the kit for Path of Champions, we had to establish a direction to pursue. Let’s take a look at the goals and how they were decided on! 1/5
FANTASY - Master Yi is an ionian swordsman and the last master of Wuju style. The style is known to be blindingly fast and the practitioners are able to stand as a one-man-army. 2/5
DIFFICULTY - In League of Legends, Master Yi is very easy to learn and hard to master. Leaving the door open for newer players while also having room for skill expression would have to be integral to the experience. 3/5
COMBO - Master Yi’s Flow mechanic creates perfect situations for mini-combos as you set up for a big finish. This creates interesting scenarios where the Player will have to decide on either holding or unleashing their spells. 4/5
The final goals we settled on were that Yi should be easy to pilot(based on his League difficulty), combo/Flow focused(linking moves together through combos), and power should be centered on combat(fantasy of blindingly fast swordplay). 5/5
